Mine locks and unlocks itself and blows horn to let me know. Passive keyless entry system. Works real good. It is a convertible so it locks even with the top down unless I turn it off.
Just a couple days ago my cameras caught a group of 3 thugs going down the street pulling on door handles. They pulled on my LT4. All my stuff was locked and they moved on. They did get a pistol from a car on the next block.
As an Officer I've worked many many vehicle burglaries. Lock your doors, and keep valuables out of sight. They will break a window to get to a visible item. They will frequently just pull on door handles and move on.
I don't want some pot smoking thug sitting in my car digging around. They will rip console apart and cause damage that they would not cause otherwise. I keep it locked for that reason. If they break the glass and open the door, then most of my cars have alarms that should go off.
I'm working with our detectives to figure out who the three were....
Thanks for the tip on the console, I never lock it so it won't get damaged in case of a break in but it's where I was keeping my lug lock socket ....I will move it to the back compartment.
We had someone getting into folks cars at my last house. They went through my wife's glove box but nothing was stolen. One night, about 2 or 3am, I woke to the sound of someone running. A cop was huffing and puffing behind him swearing like a sailor. The perp tried to hide under a Winnebago a couple of doors down, but the cop had a K9 with him. He yelled "get 'im, boy" a few times and the car burglaries stopped.
Why the heck wouldn't lock your corvette?Unless you don't work hard for your money and take life for granted than I would think you would want to protect your ASSets! Are you that irresponible and think that money grows on trees?
I LOCK mine!

Reason: spelling
Even though i live in Australia and a vette stands out like dogs b***s
I always lock her, even in the garage.
She has an aftermarket alarm system fitted also that is auto arming (for insurance purposes) as she is a pre VATS vette and has remote central locking that arms the alarm system.
My dog also guards the garage, she can tell the moment someone steps within the property boundary, call her a warning device to get out of bed and grab a baseball bat to deter any light fingered low life.
Yes always --- mine is a garage queen, driven about 2,000 miles a year. When I take it out for fun drives, visit family ---- when I leave the car it's locked, far away from other cars and always a eye's view away.
