You should probably lock it so you'll have the alarm-security system in tact, disengaging the ignition if someone trys to steal the car. The alarm system is activated with your drivers side door lock.

Screwdriver in the ignition would cost some dough ... but I'm not sure they could get it that way.
I have a convertible and figure if I lock it thieves will break the glass or cut the rag-top to get to any "perceived" valuables.
I've been doing it for years and have not had an incident. I don't leave valuables in the car and a 25 year old stereo is not a target.
I feel the same. Mine is a daily driver to work, walmart, lowes, and maybe a couple of car shows in the summer. It also is a rag top so most of the time its parked with the top down. It's got the factory Bose Stereo but I'm not to worried about someone stealing a 20 year old CD/Cassette Stereo.
If you turn the alarm system on or off, it's done with the drivers side door lock. If someone did break in with this system engaged, the alarm system won't let the ignition work, even with a screwdriver in the ignition switch.

Reason: typo
But if it's a nice sunny day and I take the top off and the windows are down I might leave it unlocked or maybe lock it but they can always unlock it.
But when I leave it in the garage (it's a garage complex besides my building but individual garages) I leave it unlocked and even the drivers side window down. Just in case some junky decides to break into my garage and I figure if the window is open they'll just check see that there's nothing worth stealing and beat it.
I mean nobody is gonna steal a Vette around here too noticeable....
