Default black wheels ?????

Is it just me or do black wheels do for cars
what butt crack blue jeans have done for fashion.

Where did this horrible idea originate ??????
Tell me this fad is going to end

I actually saw a late model black Corvette lowered with dark tinted glass
and it looked OK WITH BLACK WHEELS.

I haven't seen anything good before or since.
Just my 2 cents

Well, I am not a fan myself......BUT, popular these days; YES! Now I will say since I have a white car, it might not look that bad, it's just not my taste; but the whole blacked out thing like you are describing; NO not for me either.........

But that is hot rodding and the custom car hobby; to each his own.....that's what the sport is all about....customizing to your liking unless you are a true "purist".......like I would be if I owned that mid-year in your avatar!! Nice

Even some new camaros/vettes are coming new with black wheels.

At least they dont need to clean the brake dust off it already looks the part of a beater

I think it does get overdone, but I think it looks really good against brightly coloured cars (yellow, red, yellow, orange, yellow, white). I don't actually like black wheels on black cars unless the black car has some stripes or something to offset it. If not, machined/polished all the way!

That said, I still have a set of GS replicas in mind for mine...after a stripe. The GS wheels are also rimmed with bare aluminum, adding some contrast along with the lug nuts.

Default 1/2 ton pickups

I am referring to mostly those grey/silver Audi / BMW 4dr sedans and any other 4 dr.non sports car with plain black wheels and blackwall tires.
WHAT are they thinking ?????

Actually some pickups look ok with black wheels.
The cars with black wheels look like trucks.

Personally, black wheels do not do it for me at all. I defer comment on the jeans.

I don't like black wheels either. To me they either look like they are dirty, or the black just makes the wheels "hide". The black doesn't bring out the highlights of the wheel very well to add to the car.

That being said, for decades the auto sport/hobby has been about modifications and making the car personalized, so if that is what people want it is fine with me what they do with their cars.

Big fan of black wheels for me...but no chrome. Must be billet/polished aluminum, silver, or black (but must have a silver or colored lip) for me. Have certainly seen some cars/colors that didn't look right with black wheels. Luckily it's your car, so you don't have to ever have black wheels. I'll never understand the "they look dirty" comment. They are black, not dirt brown or brake dust gray. What's great about black wheels, is they hide all the dirt and brake dust...especially if you beat on the car like I do.

I think my Electron Blue Z06 looks good with the black wheels with the polished rim. I do not like all black wheels. On my Black Rose Metallic 1992 I think black wheels would look terrible, which is why I have chrome wheels on it.
Tell me what you think. I can take it.

I chose to do mine in black satin. Really easy to clean and they never look dirty.
I do want to stripe the lip.

I was thinking of getting black wheels at one time for my black 89, but after looking at quite a few cars with black wheels I came to the conclusion that it didn't have enough "Pop" for me... Chrome or polished alum just gives the car some depth or contrast instead of that dark flat look...WW

Ive got to say my C4 looks sexy with black wheels. Being that it has dark tint and blacked out everything it would just look stupid without them.
