My key fob on my '95 C4 broke at the keyring, so my darling wife give me a new one for Christmas. She ordered it from NookandTranny on Dec1 2012. I got it for Christmas and it worked great after programming. The new on quit on Feb 10th. I e-mailed NookandTranny and was told it was out of waranty by 1 month. So it only had a 30 day waranty, My faulty for not reading waranty I guess I did not see it written and did not ask for it. At $158.00 plus shipping I expected more. This was a original GM transmitter. Buyers be ware, check the waranty. George.
Sorry about the warranty problem.
But my advice would be if it's out of warranty take it apart and try and fix it. With these older electronics I've found that very little can actually break in a way that can not be fixed. Usually it just it just needs to be broken down and rebuilt and it works again.
Good luck
(oh if you take it apart take photos and post them I haven't seen the insides of a Vette key fob yet)
My key fob stopped working after I changed the battery. While I was changing the battery, I dropped the fob. After that it wouldn't work, nor could I program it. Didn't work for about 3 months.
January 31st I locked my keys in my car. Pop-a-lock opened it for me. When I opened the drivers door the alarm went off. I took the keys out of the ignition, put them back in and started the car and the alarm shut off. When I walked away from the car I heard the doors lock and the horn honk. Been working ever since.
Try this. Roll your driver side window down. Leave your key in the ignition and lock the doors with power lock button. Then reach into car and unlock the power lock button. Open the door and your alarm should go off. Do as I did and it might fix your problem like it did mine.
