I just bought a 2000 coupe. 1st C5 I've had. I still have my C4.
The C5 is a radical departure in design from a C4. My question,
is the C6 an evolution of the C5, or radically different in design
like the C5 versus the C4?. Discounting increases in horsepower.
You would do better to ask this question in the C5 or C6 forum. In my opinion the C6 is not the departure that the C5 was from the C4. C5 and 6 share the same basic platform and drivetrains

Structurally, there is no meaningful difference between the C5 and C6. They both use the same suspension (minus shocks and sway bars...maybe) nearly identical brakes, same drive train.
The differences are minor; appearance, interior, more hp in the C6, longer wheel base in the C6, and a LOT more aggravating electronics in the C6. C5 is still a "driver's car", IMO...meaning it has some soul and is fun. C6, not so much, though it does produce better numbers on paper.
