hey guys. maybe you can help me out with something. Ive noticed that in the early model c4s there was two rear storage compartments but in the late model c4s there was only one rear storage compartment on the right side why did they srop one? is it possible to put the other one back in? is it just open under there? any info would be greatly appreciated
86 was the first year of the ABS system so I would assume that was the first year that they chaged these compartments, I personally have noticed that 86-87 verts and maybe more don't have any storage compartments. I do know from taking mine apart that if a guy wanted to you could put the doors in a car with ABS and it would be usable. The compartment behind the drivers side has the ABS in it and would be a little smaller but you would gain some space, besides that you would have easy access to the ABS system if you were to ever have a problem. I plan on doing exactly this when I restore my interior in a couple of years.

My 92 has the door on it. It's just held closed with screws instead of a latch. Youmight still need to replace the door since the existing door doesn't have the trim strips to hold the carpet. I've had mine open and there just doesn't look like enough space in there to bother with. :nonod:
True, If I was going to do just that side there would not be much to gain, But since I don't have doors on either side right now and I plan on replacing the whole interior anyway I might as well do this well I'm at it and gain myself consierably more storage space. :yesnod:
Based on all of the above, I'd say 1990 was the last of dual compartments. I know my 90 model had 2, and Steve has one, and it's a 91, so makes sense???
My 90 vert has two. I pulled the carpet out when i installed a cd changer and theres lots of stuff under it. I still think that you could put Two compartment doors in.
my 90 has 2... both have trays in them. the left has the ABS under the tray and the right has BIG empty space under the tray.
my 96 only has one on the right, with a tray in it and the jack and some computer thingy under the tray (maybe ABS??). if you pull up the carpet on the left there is a hinged door but it is screwed down, haven't looked under it yet.
