Mr Mojo is right, water police are on the prowl lately. My brother had a 1/4 bucket of water that he's using to wipe down the car last month. Just when he's done and putting the bucket on the side, a cop passes the house then slowly backed up so he can get a better view. I was standing there dumbfounded hoping that he didn't notice the water puddles. He drove away and that was that! :blueangel: Good thing he left, I believe the fines are pretty darn hefty!

The sad part about that is that even if a car wash business recycles the water, they are going to waste some of it. Chances are they will end up wasting more water than I could wash it with out of a bucket. Hmm, 2 gallons in a bucket gets dirty that I could then water my plants with, or who knows how many gallons run right out of the carwash and out into the street.
No thanks. I believe I'm going to go wash my car today. The thing is that around here they will say you can't do that because of a drought, but everybody does. Hell the university is the worst, they have sprinklers running all day to water flowers that nobody looks at. Nope, I'll wash my one little car and just not take a long shower.
It's really crazy how stupid the water ****'s get. Can't wash your car.. seems like if it's very dry you probably don't really NEED to wash your car that bad anyway. Rain is my worst enemy. Tell these people with the swimming pools they can't fill them up, that's wasted water. Me washing my car is protecting my investment. Or I guess the city is going to pay for a new paint job when the bird poopie makes it peel.
I had a guy in a blue Modena do something similar. We both stayed at the stoplight (already green) talking about eachother's car. Traffic was coming so he gave a thumbs up and left. Cool guy, he lives two blocks away from me too.
Cool, but one question. Why are you driving to the car wash???
Brandt, I can answer that one. Here in NJ it's illegal to wash your car at home due to the drought situation. You can go to a car wash or DIY car wash because they recycle the water.
Until further notice we can't wash cars or water lawns.
The ban in NJ was relaxed last week. You can water your lawns whenever you want (with the ban it was odd-even watering, not totally banned.) You can wash your car in your driveway on weekends now.
Even so - I'd rather not wash my car (any of them) than take them to an automatic car wash.
I got a thumbs up from a cop today. He followed me for a bit and got besides me, gave me a thumbs up, and then he floored it. I had to hold back and let him win that race.

I can wash my car before 10:00am on even-numbered days. :(
from what i've noticed in general, sports car owners respect other sports car owners, right when i got my vette i had a guy in a modena come over and start talking cars with me, turns out he used to have a vette.
