Dropped a spark plug socket on the passenger side. Found it about 10 years later when I removed the head while replacing a head gasket, it was neatly tucked into the motor mount.

I thought I was the only one. Funny how nearly everyone is losing hardware and tools in C4 engine compartments!

My C4 still has a brand new spark plug between the starter motor and the block. While trying to retrieve it, I could touch it with the end of my fingers but could never get hold of it. Had to make a trip to AutoZone for one plug!

I found a mystery bolt next to my intake the other day, no idea where it came from. There's a missing bolt in the car too but it's not the same size!

Thought this was one of those "old man" posts. Dropping nuts isn't that bad, sitting on them kinda sucks though.

Whenever possible, I stuff rags in any openings below my work area to catch any nuts, bolts, wrenches, etc. that I will definitely drop while doing the job.

This kinda reminds me of the "you know you're a c4 owner when..." thread. Like when you have to actually raise the car to reach the bolt that fell.

Hey, I dropped a stainless razor blade into the water jacket in the engine block while scrapping the water pump gasket. I spent 8 hrs fishing and searching. It's been in there a year with not one single issue. Lol
