Default Dropping my nuts

I don't know why, but it seems I drop more nuts, bolts, and screws working on the Vette than anything I've ever worked on. More than once the piece never made it to the ground.

Yeah, my car is a parts and tool collector too. Still looking for a stubby ratchet. Someone needs to market a clear crossmember.

I swear when they built these cars they added magnets in every hidden hard/impossible to see area to collect anything magnetic.. Think I've added close to 2-5 pound of nuts and bolts etc to my weight..

I have the body kit on my 89..When I removed the body kit panel that runs under the door I found 2 sockets and a 6" extention. I figured I would check the other side just to see what was in there and I found a dead mouse carcus and 2 more 1/4 inch sockets...The guy that had the car before me must of just given up looking for anything he dropped.....WW

most of what i've dropped on the 84 and the 94 fall into some sort of a Bermuda Triangle, never to be seen again. Amelia Earhart is probably piecing her plane back together with the amount of sockets and hardware i've lost..

Catchy title. Ha Ha.

Back in the day when I was young and foolish I bought a new 1972 Vega. One day I was cleaning out leaves that collected in the front fender and found a 1/2" deep socket. Must have been from the factory. It had 3 miles on it when I bought it.

No offense, but if you bought a Vega you were most definitely foolish. A buddy of mine had one , the engine was shot at 60,000 miles and the thing was always in the shop..It burned a quart of oil a day,No kidding........WW

I was 19 and definately foolish. Ha Ha. Never had a single engine problem but I sold it at 24,000 miles. I was getting wiser by then.

I got a 1970 Houndstooth Cougar, 351C and nice dual exhaust with 24" glass pack mufflers. Great car with many of the available goodies.

As long as you didn't replace it with a "Ford Granada" I would say you probably wised up pretty good......WW

Would a 73 Pinto with Firestone 500 radials count?

Don't ever lose track of your socket set on top of your L98 plenum, or you will find it in a hurry!

It's probably in the radiator shroud of a C4 that was behind you one time at a cruise.

One thing I have found that works pretty good when wrenching on these cars is one of the "magnetic trays' to hold all the nuts and bolts and small tools........WW

Yep. I use magnetic trays & strips to hold the removed hardware in the order of removal. Makes reassembly faster, never have to hunt for the correct fastener.

Tools are never placed on the engine, cowl etc. A small roller cart next to the job keeps tools organized.

C4's are GREAT for engine access. I put mine on jack stands, remove the front wheels & stand next to the engine. If something gets dropped I have under side access.

Default Vegas.................

I saw an article online recently that showed how they shipped Vegas from the factory to save money. They shipped them in cradles standing on their front ends to save space in the rail car! I'm not good at posting pics but if you do a search I'm sure you'll find it.
