"SYS" Message

The "SYS" indicator to the left of the MPH display on my 96 LT1 (31Kmi) flashes 3 times, every minute or so. The manual says it might be an electrical problem. All other gauges are fine and the car runs perfectly. Any ideas?

I replaced the battery and message disappeared immediatly.

Thanks. Should have mentioned the car was sitting for 3 weeks, in a 40 degree garage, and battery is almost 5 yrs old. Started up fine...

Your right, the flashing SYS indicates an electrical issue.
The most likely culprit in your description is a low battery.
