Default 95 engine trouble

1) My LT1 1995 6 speed manual trans started getting hard to crank a few days ago. The starter would turn over a long time before the engine fired.
2) Then the other day I started it up and the engine ran for about 5-10 seconds and shut off. It would fire up again and run a few seconds and shut off.
3) If I tried to give it gas it would die instantly.
Any ideas about what could be causing this kind of trouble?
Does this sound like a fuel issue or an electrical issue?

No, could it be the fuel pump or a clogged filter?

Well, it could....and it could be a hundred other things. Would you like to troubleshoot, or go on a guess-a-thon?

Test fuel pressure during an event and report back with the results. We'll go from there.

Hate to say it but Frizlefrak is right. Too often, lack of info leads both owner and forumites on a wild goose chase that costs the owner too much money and frustrates people who are actually trying to help. If you must, change the filter first, since it is cheap and a maintenance item. Then, check the fuel pump pressure.

It sounds like fuel issue. with Frizlefrak...you need to start by testing the fuel pressure. That will tell you if it is a fuel issue. If you don't have a fuel pressure gauge, many of the auto parts stores will lend you one. If it is a fuel issue, we can then direct you into additional testing to pin point the most likely solution.

You asked for help....we are leading you in the correct direction.

You asked for help in locating the problem, got useful advice and did not like what you heard. What else would you like us to do on the forum, use our Great Karnak powers and figure out the problem by magic? YOU will have to do the work and forum members will supply useful ideas.

I'm willing to bet that fuel filter's been in there a long time. It's a maintenance item that should be replaced regularily but probably hasn't..So go ahead an replace it; it might be it. good luck

Yes, but as others said, it could be other things too. Simple things like a bad FPR,

Fuel pressure test on a 95 is simple.

Smokeysvette asked you the first question in a logical sequence of troubleshooting. I reiterated his point. You car may not be running correctly, but the BHOM is working fine.....
