Default different MOOG ends question

Hey all,

I attempted to purchase two of the same MOOG rear tie rod ends online. After receiving them, I noticed that one is stamped '44' and the other is stamped '64' on top of the end. Physically, they look the same, apart from the different stampings and a decorative tapering of the top lip that's only present on the '64'... I also noticed that the '64' moves more freely than the '44'.

I called MOOG directly (who else would know their products the best?) and asked the fellow if there was a difference between these two parts. After a few minutes on hold, he explains that they are the same part but he '44' is an older model ~circa 2004. He explained that the innards are the same, they just changed the look a little bit. He also assured me that even though the '64' moved more freely than the '44', I shouldn't worry - There's some sort of coating on the '44' that will wear off once installed. Maybe Grease will take care of that.

Here's my question - Even though MOOG confirms these are the same part, would you go through the hassle of returning/exchanging for two 64's or '44's or would you go ahead and use one of each?

If there was no number stamped on either one would you return one?

I would have still questioned them based upon the looks. Would you have returned one?

I guess it would depend on the feel.
