Anyone have a "trick to getting a locking wheel nut off ? I bought a wrecked 95 and it didn't have the tool to take the nut off with.

I took all 8 safety nuts off; bad guys are fully equipped to accomplish their goals.

Any tire shop should be able to take if off for you.

There's many methods all have various levels of success but that can often be the operator of the devices. Why don't you put a snapshot of the style that is on the car - there's methods for the various that work better than others.

This shouldn't be a problem like the "tire shop" - you take the camera to the car!!

Take the locking nut off and take it to the tire shop and see if they can match it up.

Just kidding, it looks like the socket shown by PLRX should do it.

Take a 1/2 inch drive socket that is just a tad too small to fit and drive in on the locking nut with a big hammer. Then insert a breaker bar into the socket and take the nut off.

Use an impact socket though. If the wheel is junk, you can weld a regular nut to the top of locking lug nut. Then take it off with a socket.

Is there a tool rental shop in the area? Save some $ renting instead of buying a removal tool from Sears, etc.

Using a smaller size socket (metric ?) as posted above, and hammered on usually performs well

PLRX has the right idea. it will keep damage to a minimum and you can get one of those tools relatively cheap.

have had to do this on both my C4 and C5. Takes about 1 minute per locking nut to remove

If you get a good picture of the lock, you can contact McGard and they should be able to sell you a new key.

X2... I used to do that all the time when I worked at a place that required removing locking lugs w/o keys on a regular basis. 12 point socket, hammer that b!tch on, hit it with an impact gun. Comes right off.
