Have a chance to pick up a 86 Vert for $6000, has 56,xxx miles, owner said that in the last 2 years a new top, new leather and foam and some other things. it has had 5 owners. what do you all think?
it has new paint also in the last 2 years, have not seen the car in person yet. the add is as follows,
This 1986 Chevrolet Indy 500 Pace Car Convertible is a great driver. New in the last two years: Top, Leather Seats and Forms, Exhaust System, Rear Brakes, Exterior Paint, Car Cover, as well as engine health check up; all recomended services completed. I have garage kept this car. Low mileage a must see if you are a serious buyer.
I would wait till you see it in person. I believe all 1986 verts were "Indianapolis 500 Pace Car" replica's. If it's as nice as he says it is I would scoop it up!
he started at $16500 and now dropped 10500, seems like something is suspicious
And now the price is $6000? Ask for the VIN and buy a CarFax check for it. That should confirm the 5 owners and the mileage. $6K is reasonable for an '86; $16.5 isn't A car with only 56K on it shouldn't really need a repaint unless it was not cared for, in an accident, or maybe somebody simply didn't like the original color.
Convertible 1986 Pace Cars came with a set of decals that the original owner could install if he/she wanted. Ask if they are with the car. Also ask for pictures of everything if the car is some distance away where you can't easily go see it. Manual or auto trans?
