One note about the 882: that number includes the socket. You can buy the bulbs without the socket as 891. Might save a bit if you don't need a new socket.
[EDIT] I recently found out (via Don's Bulbs) that the 891 bulb is rated about twice the power of the 882 bulb. That means that it will get even hotter than the 882, which is already roasting the sockets and PC board. [/EDIT]

This looks like a cool tool that will do the job:

To the OP you do not want to use the high heat 882 halogen instrument cluster bulbs for replacements. Later year C4's used lower heat producing Xenon bulbs (My '89 came with Stanley 7073 Xenon bulbs) that weren't prone to melting board sockets and burning boards.
Try these; more light, less heat, same wedge type base;

If your looking to replace the Atari cluster backlighting read this thread;

Anyhow, I looked at various bulb options and used Don's Bulbs to compare specs on the various bulbs:
882 891 7073 194 12.8V 12.8V 12.8V 14V 0.352A 0.625A 0.38A 0.27A 4.5W 8W 4.86W 3.78W T2-1/4 T3-1/4 T3-1/4 T3-1/4
So we see that the 891 is NOT just an 882 without the base, as someone suggested. It actually is TWICE the power, so it's going to get even hotter than the 882s. 882X is frosted, otherwise the same as a 882. [ EDiT ] It has come to my attention that the 882X bulbs do not come with the socket. They should be a little cheaper. [ /EDIT ]
The 7073 bulbs are NOT lower power than the 882s. In fact, they're a little hotter. Maybe the larger size helps dissipate the heat?
I put the 194s in there also, since some people have suggested them as a replacement for the 7073. They're rated at 14V, so will be dimmer at 12.8V, might be OK.
I don't know what bulb number the "Home Depot" bulbs are, so there's no way to compare them to the others.
