Default I got a ticket yesterday!!

Speeding? NO Wreck less driving? NO Tags or anything like that No. It was because my music was too loud???

Saturday morning started out great, I helped a guy who just bought a 89 C4. we polished it swapped the rims it was a total transformation. well after I got in my 07 top off going down the main street in the little town I live and all of a sudden lights in my rear view mirror. I'm like WTF I wasn't speeding. He goes thru the whole loud speaker "Driver get out of the car" thing. Now mind you it's 2:30 in the afternoon on a gorgeous Saturday. I ask why are you stopping me because I know not to speed on Main St. He says my music was too loud and was already writing the ticket!! What ever happened to giving a warning!! I have a stock radio had the top off was playing "Boston, More than a feeling"
man I was livid! told him guess if it was rap crap that would be ok. told him this was BS. told him go to the local sonic and they have loud VULGER music all the time. anyways told him to have a shi33y f'ing day. I really think he saw the car and said let me **** him off. sorry for the rant guys. and to clarify my brother is a cop and have lots of law inforcement friends but this guy was a douche.

All you can do at this point is take it to court and talk to the judge. Do some research on your areas sound laws and how the officer determined you exceed the limit.

Good Luck

"Too loud" is pretty subjective. I don't know about your state, but here there is a DB rating limit. I'd check into the requirements of the section he cited you under and also ask your brother about that section to see what you can do.

Barney Fife, reporting for duty sir.
The stock Bose in my 86 is not even capable of bothering anyone.

I'd file a complaint if the officer was being a creep.

Bummer, that's not a moving violation is it? For instance, in California, a call phone ticket is a fine but not a point on the driving record.

since none of us were there all we can do is sympathize with you. with me a citation for loud music can go either way. a lot of it depends on how loud it is of course. i've wrote citations to the guys who think its funny to jack up the music so loud that its rattling the windows on my patrol car. those guys always get cited. i don't think i've ever had an issue with anyone playing Boston, or any classic rock music too loud that it disturbs the public. its usually the younger kids that like to blast rap and hip hop so loud that it feels as if your car is falling apart around you. i wasn't there, but it does sound like the officer was being a bit harsh and i feel as though you should have got a warning. i mean really, how loud can you really play Boston? enough that pedestrians are offended as you drive by? i think not. research the law based on the ordinance you were cited for on that particular city's website. if after reading the ordinance you feel you have not committed the crime described, take the citation to court, plead not guilty at you preliminary hearing and allow the law enforcement officer to prove his probable cause for the stop in a trial.

I could be totally wrong BUT!

The cop can't write a ticket without your license and reg in hand. That means to me that you said too much before and during the time you turned them over

All due respect to any LEO, It is the more recent (heavy bass) that IS usually related to the noise that can come into ones house. My exhaust on the 86 is stock and really quiet. We have had neighbors (kids) who had to let everybody hear the music.
I think an over zealous cop might grab on to anything to pull over a corvette.

perhaps, but i tend to not stop so many Corvettes.. most of the time if i do have to stop a Corvette driver he ends up with a warning. most of the owners are polite and cooperative.

If you go to court, suggest you take photos of your car in that area with your top off and a location where the officer may have been parked, as well, take photos of the interior to show it is stock, no subs, etc. Photos will speak volumes.

I bet this cop would be even worse if a Goldwing went thru town with a stereo on the bike. Some people just do not belong wearing badges.

I'll admit I blew a gasket especially when he's already writing away! Those guys are known for being asses, always heard that and now I have experienced it. and only after I felt like this fella for lack of a better word in my opinion abuse his authority did I pop off at the mouth.

anyways it's done. I hope he did a shi77y day and i'm over it. got somebody gonna fix it for me.

Drove the C4 today with some Styx-Grand Illusion down main street today.
