On my way home today I was cruising at 70 MPH and I see a Hellcat coming up from behind with no hood, dunno of no hood made any difference but thought I'd mention it. Anyway he pulls up beside me and I was surprised at the torque he had, he could lift the front end 3-4" up when giving it the gas. He did that a few times then floored it and again I was surprised at the acceleration he had from 70 MPH.
No way would I even think of running with a Hellcat from 70 MPH... from a dead start I would try.

Yeahhhh, I’m pretty confident in saying that was not a stock set-up.
The lack of a hood was irrelevant, other than the likelyhood of some extra work being done under the hood (or the lack thereof)
The c8 SR is a beast from a dig to 70-80 then the lack of the top end hp gets it eaten by the big hp guys....the hellcat can't put any rubber down until 30 but once it does it flies...
Gm really got the c8 right for everyday use...for me i rarely drive on the highway so the c8SR is perfect, if i had a lot more highway driving I'm sure I'd crave the z06 power to compete with the hellcats of the world....figuratively that is, I would never race on a street or highway esp against a moron trying to get me to...but that's just view, plenty do it obviously and it's their choice and risk to take

Hopefully you just let him show off without engaging - bad things can happen in an instant. Let him get in trouble for instigating a street race on a public road.
I had a Hellcat challenger from ‘15. Six speed. Fun car. The roll race is its strong point.
Have C8 now. No regrets. Dodge is augering in. Challenger was great for burnouts. It makes lots of noise. Gives you sensations of violence and mayhem. Sometimes that is super exciting. Sometimes meh not so much. C8 is new to me but wow. It just drives better. Its actually meant to do things on a track. It gets way more attention. People love it. More people.
The dodge stuff is starti g to drop in the hands of 3rd owners. So soon you will see many clapped out redneck versions doing even more stupid **** than some of the first two owners. Hell of a car. Have to give them all the credit for making cars with crazy power.

The C8 was definitely the best Vette ever...........a joy, delight and thrill to drive everyday. Only reason I sold it was I'm an old fart now and have this old fart problem!!!! Make sure you click on for a good laugh while watching the short clip

There's a modded Trackhawk in my neighborhood that loves to make noise when he sees me outside... But I still won't roll race him. Corvettes aren't frumroll cars, but being a Trackhawk he's got the dig too, unfortunately.

The C8 is quick. It’s not fast. I don’t even try to run anything on the highway. It corners well and is quick from a stop.
SR might not be a roll on monster, but it's no slouch, mine squats and scoots from 80 with authority.
It has a more efficient powertrain than the dodge and far better aerodynamics than the wet brick aero of the dodge.

The math favors the Hellcat at speed. I hate roll races for this reason. All drags should start from a dig. The measure of a drag racer is RT and 60' times. Roll races tell us very little. See if that Hellcat driver is good enough to hook from a dead start.

Corvettes were never designed to be a drag race car, ask the Hellcat to go around a few sharp turns & you will instantly see what the Corvette was designed for
