On my way home today I was cruising at 70 MPH and I see a Hellcat coming up from behind with no hood, dunno of no hood made any difference but thought I'd mention it. Anyway he pulls up beside me and I was surprised at the torque he had, he could lift the front end 3-4" up when giving it the gas. He did that a few times then floored it and again I was surprised at the acceleration he had from 70 MPH.
No way would I even think of running with a Hellcat from 70 MPH... from a dead start I would try.
Anyone drag race a Hellcat?
JT
Daily, Have some of everything, Corvette crushes it to 70 and then the dodge takes off
I too had a Hellcat and miss it a lot but I missed my Vettes when I had the Cat. Two car garage, wife insists on parking in. My cars also insist on parking in the garage and I am retired so no commute to blame so to speak. I loved the Hellcat and it didn’t need augmentation to lift and roar at 70. It would break away at 65 and start fishtailing if floored. Marvelous car. The SR however can take a corner like a go cart and the Cat obviously can’t so driving it was a chore whereas the SR is pure joy in the handling department so much so that it is my preferred car at the moment.

Don't try anything with forced induction like a GT500, Hellcat, Supra, C7 Z06/Zr1, ZL1 etc from roll in a C8. As great as the C8 is, roll racing is not its strong suit.
I would love to get a twin turbo setup once the warranty expires.
I raced a Hellcat Redeye twice from a dig. I'm slightly modded, hf cats, larger tb and ported intake manifold. I smoked it off the line both times and at 100mph I'd hear its supercharger whining and it was pulling next to me, at 120 it would blow past me.

Thanks for verifying what I thought when he pulled up beside me doing 70 MPH and that's why I didn't even bother to disengage the cruise control. It was pretty cool to see the acceleration he had from 70 MPH.

So at 120mph, was that a win in the 1/4 mile? Or just short?
Do they have factory blowers?
By the time the C8 gets to the curve, all it will be looking at is the tail lights of the Hellcat!
And the smoke and flames, along with the wreckage and random Mopar car parts, accordioned up against the trees, just off the roadside, as you drive by the wreck.

Realistically, how often can a 495 HP car out-drag a 800 HP car ??
Traction. Drag race = from a dig? While the Hellcat's wheels are spinnin', you're through the gates a winnin'.
Rolling start = advantage greater HP. (usually?)
Yes, I know very little about them, and care even less.
Very many Auto manufacturers have had blower (supercharger) equipped engines. Duesenberg offered a Super charger in the 1920's, GM, Ford And Chrysler have had many supercharged engines....some very cool engines.
Thank you for the information.
I have since done some searches and discovered that GM has supercharged it's share of vehicles.
But not the production versions of the Corvette C8? They were used on older C6 and C7 models.
Is this the "next" upgrade for the C8 or it's successors I wonder?
Seems logical.
