Default Antenna Help

I know there is a thread in the search, but need help. Bought a new mast , got antenna out, cleaned broken strap pieces out, question is: What is the trick getting new ribbon and mast back in, just spent 2 hours with no luck, it will catch and stop, is it better to rewind it by hand and try to re assemble it. Motor works , old antenna worked but stopped about 3 inches short, went up and down fine just didn't go all of the way down, there has to be a trick to getting it back in

I just did mine yesterday. I removed the old antenna, put a little grease on the new white serrated strap. I inserted the new strap until it stopped with the teeth facing the driver's side of the vehicle. I turned the radio off so that the motor would engage and pull the strap down. It caught the new strap and only went a few inches. I then installed the antenna by carefully extending it by hand so that I could install the nut that holds the antenna on. I didn't tighten it all the way, only enough so that it would hold the antenna in place while I turned the radio on and off and few times. After turning the radio on and off a few times, the new strap was in its proper place and the antenna rises and falls completely. I was surprised it was that easy!

Good luck
Jeff
