Is adhesive necessary anywhere at all?
Anyplace an absolute must?
No no need for adhesive for weatherstrips, is a common question to pop up on the forum. I put Willcox weatherstrips on my 85 no glue and she doesn't leak.
The front headder weatherstrip is fiddly to install, if glue is used any mistake will damage the weatherstrip when trying remove it to correct a fitting problem.
Remember if you have to replace your windsheild the weatherstrip will have to come of, if it has been glued you will be very very lucky to get it of without any damage.

not as much stretching as I thought. I didn't do it as most of the directions I've seen. I did mark the center but didn't pay much attention to it. Started at the bottom of each side and worked my way toward the top and then to the center.
No adhesive
I replaced on my 86 and also scraped out a lot of old glue, but I did not replace it with any. Many people do use adhesive, but it is not necessary. In my opinion, it only complicates the job.

I agree...I did the same on my 86. My car isn't a DD and most people I spoke to asked this. I guess because it sees very little rain. I have no leaks when I wash the car.
