The CL has different media construction and retention. Several years ago the CL was added and at that time I was told that the media in the general ACD filters was prone to being sucked into a performance oil system. At that time there were substantial documentations from ACD & GM. I haven't seen the question asked for a very long time. Given the choice I believe you would certainly want the CL media. Buy one of each cut them apart and post back!

I don't recall "JrRifleCoach" doing a CL filter in his filter comparisons. He may very well have.

The physical appearance of the CL is like that of the older ACD filters. You'll easily see the difference with them side by side.

Thank you, I just bought 4 of them and I was pretty sure they were "Improved" filter. GM used to sell it's "Ultragard" filters but dropped them a few years ago. Not too sure of the reason ?

There is only one version of the Ultragard filter line left. UPF-44.

I just changed the oil in my new Corvette and was researching options for oil filters.
