My 96 passenger door won't come open unless the window is down a bit, the glass"catches"on a piece at the top front of glass... Anyone ever had this problem?

The guide circled is to limit the window upward movement and also how much the top of the glass tilts inward to the targa top seal.
Only a small amount of movement makes a big difference.
Good luck
Actually, it is more likely the plastic window guide toward the front of the window. If you take off the door panel, you will see a black plastic part about 2"x2" with the upper part crushed. This allows the front of the window to go to far up causing the window to cam back against the B pillar. Change both sides, about $35ea. The picture is for an 80's C4, the 90's use a different mechanism.
