Default very technical wiring problem

I have an 86 and it caught fire so I ordered a used wiring harness and installed it. every sensor matched up but when I got to the blower motor and blower resistors I ran into a problem. The 4 pin square connector and 2 pin connector isn't in the harness and there is a blower relay connector that is suppose to be on the firewall just above the blower motor that I didn't have on my old harness but the red book shows all of them.
please help

Sounds like you got a C60 harness. You needed a C68!

Sure sounds that way.

OP - start at either end of the harness (you bought) and go towards the other and see if you can come across a colored tape wrapped around it with a three letter code or a four digit number. Post that and I can ID it I believe for you. I'd suggest the buy of the correct harness vs trying to modify one - real tough job to modify that aspect of a harness.

I'm sure you are correct. do you have any idea where I might find a used c68 harness?
and thanks for your sharing your knowledge.

The correct harness for an '86 is actually by part number an '86 "only" part. There are actually two different part numbers for a US build. The only way to confirm it's actually a "numerical correct" harness would be if you could start at the bulk-head connector and working forward find the colored tape that wraps it with the correct 4 digit ID for the '86.

An automatic car would be a GM# 120488818 with a tag of 8818 and a MT car would be a GM# 12048816 with a tag of 8816.

Will other years work? You would need to confirm pin-out etc. and modify as needed.

You don't mention your location so it's difficult to head you in a particular direction. You might try searching in the parts section for an '86 part out or post a WTB for the specific '86 harness. I would think it somewhat difficult finding an engine harness for an '86 that maybe wasn't in need of some repair. You have a harness now that you mention was OK "except" so you've got maybe enough to piece together a correct harness if you had one.

Well now that I have an 86 with a c60 harness when it needed a c68. I installed it and every sensor was where it was supposed to be except the blower motor. the c60 has a blower resistor plug and a blower relay and the car wants a c1 and c2 blower control plugs. If anyone has done this successfully please tell me what to take where. It would save me so much frustration. Please help if you can.

I thank you for the schematic but I have the red book which shows both c60 and c68 but I don't know how the c60 relay and resistor connectors(not used on car) would wire into the the two blower motor connects(not on harness) but on the car.
I cut the two blower motor connectors c1 & c2 from old harness but I'm not sure how to wire in to c60 harness. all other sensors and wiring went in OK.

Go to the furthest end of the harness where it would connect to the pass through connector and there's likely a colored tape wrapped around it with a 4 digit number on it. Post that number if it's there and I believe I could ID it! The tape and number could be anywhere on the harness but it's generally located at the larger connector.

In that case you will see it is a major undertaking to try and rewire the C60 harness as C68 which is why the recommendation to use a C68 ready harness

WOW..I have a passion right now for a C68 harness.Been looking for some outfit for MANY months to repair my decrepit '89 harness. Some of the fuel injection specialty shops offered to repair my harness BUT ONLY the injection aspect of it.Mine IS at one of those shops NOW.But FINALLY a local Corvette dealer has offered to REPLICATE the entire harness! I've offered $4k/w no takers until NOW at $3k...A real BARGAIN to me.I will have the newest bone stock '89 on the planet.

The biggest problem was the C100 obsolete connector but good used ones can be found.....found!!

I checked the harness I bought from a corvette salvage yard in 2001 I could find no colored tape with a number. the car I was going to use it on at the time had an auto tranny but 12 years later I have no idea what I bought. for a prepaid ups label I will send it if it works pay me what its worth to you if it don't you can send it back or gift it to someone else. or if you want to sell it on ebay split it with me.....JAY
