Default paint question

I have a friend who has done some pretty nice paint jobs on other cars, who has offered to repaint my 85 Gold. I am a little concerned though, I asked him about any additive to use in the paint on the Urethane bumpers to keep the paint from cracking and peeling. Seems to me I heard some time ago that such a thing was necessary. He says no. Just currious.

Not necessary.

In my painting experience, the urethane bumpers don't flex enough to need the flex additive also, the additive slightly changes the color of the paint. My friends body shop I worked at stopped using the flex additive when he found it affected the color.

Adhesion is not a problem as long as the part is prepped correctly.

I believe that it is completely up to the paint manufacturer. Some recommend it, some say it's not necessary - they should know, it's their product.
