I am at a loss. My 95 Coupe with 72K miles is growling or grinding when braking. I have replaced rotors, brake pads, axle shaft u-joints and rear wheel bearing hubs. The growl, or almost a grinding when braking is very noticeable, especially braking hard. Mostly notice it from about 20 mph to 0. No movement in front wheel bearings, not saying that they are not bad, but no movement when pulling at 12:00 and 6:00. Could tires cause this? When I jack up the front and spin the wheels, I do not get a grinding. Could the parking brake be something that could cause this? I never use it, would just as soon disable it. This is very annoying, and concerning. Not sure how to, or what to check next. My rear bearings needed replacement, actually was hoping that was it, but was not. Duralast brake pads with Bendix rotors and Duralast gold u joints. Timken rear wheel hubs. 18" Kuhmo's on rear(7 years old), 17" Firestone firehawks on front(3 years old) Low mileage on both, plenty of tread.
Any suggestions or guidance would be appreciated.

Sounds like your tires, if the tread blocks are wide apart across the tire without offset that could be the cause. Think of it like driving over a cobblestone path, every gap then the next block is what makes the noise a low rumbling or roaring sound. Tires with a V shaped tread or ones that have solid unbroken section right around the tires are the quieter tires as there is always tread in contact with the road, the tires with large blocks of tread transmit more noise as there are small sections that are not in constant contact with the road.
Race compound disc brake pads with heavy metal content can give a loud grinding noise, as the pad and disc friction removes particles of the pad and disc at the same time especially when cold.
Pulled my pads to check them. This picture is from the right side. Pads are only about a month old. Could a wheel bearing cause this? Left side pads are evenly worn. The lower pad in pic is the outside pad, the unworn part is the bottom.
