ok my car has been getting horrible gas milage like 8 or 9 miles to the gallon and i cant figure out why. it has new plugs and wire and new air filter and it runs really good but i cant figure it out. im not speed or being hard on it usually im not even touching the gas im trying to coast. i run 93 in it and it has new tires.
You should list year and mileage so we can help out better. If it's a 85 thru 96 check your vacuum line on the fuel pressure regulator for gas in it, also check your crankcase for gas in your oil. You might have the start of a small regulator leak also check where the hard metal lines run into the fuel rail. Just a fast place to look so you can rule out a leak in those areas.

It's on the intake manifold next to the EGR valve and in front of the distributor. The stock one is not adjustable. Have you checked the fuel pressure? Is the timing set properly?
BTW, a 383 stroker is not gonna help with gas mileage.....
well im gettin 383 gas milage with out the power so i was wanting to fix it before i decide forsure what im doin. what sould my gas presure be. and i believe its in time it doesnt miss but now that u mentioned it i does have a slow start as if it is out a little and the prev. owner did change the plug wires so it hard to tell what all he did with the distritor

My 383 gets 26 mpg highway ,so your not even getting 383 gas mileage..... I would say to have you car scanned to see if its going into closed loop.. If it's not going into closed loop that could cause the rotten gas mileage..WW
You need to pull the error codes to see what the ECM thinks is happening. That said, it sounds like your CTS (Coolant Temperature Sensor) is either bad, disconnected or has a bad connection.
well my cts is bad i know that for a while. i have replaced it and it still low coolant. does the wire go near the exhaust because be buying the car they had duel exhaust put on and i was thinking they burned it somewhere. also if this matter any it dont have an engine light on. some time when its really cold and i drive for like 20 min it comes on but that bout it
another thing i was wanting to add is where exactly is the cts because i changed a sensor on top of the radiator and im want to make sure that is the exact one before i start tracing wires and stuff and some additional info is that after i changed it my low coolant light didn't go off. i burped the system and everything and did the control test of ground out the wire to make sure and it was still on.
You might have to remove your MAF & air tube along with your TB 4 bolts to get at the CTS. Then you can see it clearly. I think the emission pump is in the way if you don't. I don’t have the pump and piping any longer so I can’t remember what exactly needs coming off.
