Removing 1989 automatic shifter ****
Seems I've seen this topic but can't find it. Does the shifter **** come off by removing the snap ring I see under the shifter **** button? I am going to put a dual USB charger in the console in place of the cigarette lighter.

Installed a USB charger in place of the cigarette lighter. Just need to clean up now when I've got some light. Now I can use my android phone for its GPS functions without it going dead.

very nice!! glad you were able to get it installed properly! that little snap ring can bend easily if you are not careful with it. but, it looks like you got it all put back together properly.

I had a bad cigarette lighter and have no use for the lighter. The USB charger was larger than the lighter so I had to enlarge the hole. The the bottom edge had to be filed a bit to make it fit. I purchased it from this site:

I also installed new LCD instrument cluster lights from BATEE.COM. Made the cluster look new.
