Default Wheel offset question?

So I bought some new wheels for my 90 coupe. I ordered 4 of the 17X9.5 with a 57mm offset to match the original wheels. What I was sent was two of the 17X9.5 57mm offset and for the rear two 17X11 with a 50mm offset. Rather than send the 11 inch wheels back I was thinking I might want these, right? So my question to you experts......will these 11 inch rims work on a standard 1990 coupe without and modification? I understand the rear wheel may stick out of the fender well a little more than the 9.5 inch rims, but if they fit why send them back??

They will fit and look good on there. 7mm is only about 1/4" .

The 7mm isn't his issue the 11" wide is his question!!!

OP - If you keep the 11" wheels the tire availability has shrunk and is continuing to shrink for a tire that is a fit for it. There's a good reason to buy 4 X 9.5 to make the package rotatable at least front to rear if the tires are directional.

The fit of the 11" will be at the extreme edge of the quarter or just beyond it depending on the tire choice.

I'd say you had the right idea with your initial order. It's a decision once made you're certainly going to need to live with.

Default Thanks!!

Thanks for the info-experts. The 90 coupe only has 26K original miles and I am replacing the original 23 year old tires with some Nitto NT05's so the ability to rotating tires is not in my plans. If I were smart I would send back the 17X11's and get four of the 17X9.5 but I can't seen to give up the idea of those 11 inch tires in the back.

I would think those would rotate front to rear "same side of car" - they're directional BUT only a 200 tread-wear - why not the 555 with the 300 tread-wear. The NT05 for a 315 looks to be maybe as much as $50 more per tire than the 275

I ran the 11" wheels for a few years. The tire situation is why I went to the 9 1/2s I have now. The 11s looked great.

I looked at the 11 inch wheel. Sounded like a good idea till I priced the tires. And I think thy barely fit, and might rub muffler.

They'll stick out about an inch further than the 9.5's I'd run em if I were you.. Fat nastys in the back are HOT

So I bolted the 11 inch rim on the rear last night (without the tire on it) and it sticks past the flaired wheel well about an inch. What my concern was is this.......the rim on the back side is really close to various lines (sorry i don't know the technical names) some of which there was a thumb width clearance. My tire cost for the Nitto NT05's is only about $100 with the wider tires (315/35ZR17) so that's ok with me. Again, I don't want to rotate these tires but after last night's wheel test I think I should stick with the 9.5's all around. Did any of you have this problem of clearance on the back side of the rims?
