Ok I wanted to share a few ideas and rant just a little ,LOL . Here goes mainly I would like an intelligent answer on how to disable the ASR unit on a 1994 C4 . Yes I know there is a button , but after you got your *** kicked at the light with the throttle peddle shoved half way up your gut and the rear brakes locked up remembering the button verse getting rid of it IDK , just weighing options. So far everything has been plug and play . You don't want it , unplug it. Like the stupid 1 to 4 skip shift , just unplug it at the transmission . The hot air injection off the exhaust manifold pumping hot exhaust gas back through the intake , unplug the smog pump. Wow throw in a K&N filter remove the stupid dust cover on the air filter and there you have it a cold air intake . everything so far has been fairly simple if you don't want it lose it . Now here is the rant I have heard a lot of great ideas , but no one ever seems to give a detailed information guide on how to do it . All they say is do this or that but don't tell you how to do it . Hey just saying brothers , why over complicate things?
So why not just unplug it and save the trouble of having to rig something up? I will admit it opens up a little room and looks a little cleaner under the hood . Thanks for the reply . Do you have any personal advice on how to go about it ? Reason I ask is because I heard there was an issue with throttle position because of incorrect cable size. That's why I made the earlier comments on everything being plug and play .
Guess I will just have to remember to press the button
Just make it the first thing you do when you arrive at the track, and remember to reverse the action when you leave to go home back onto the highway. Simple.
Well as far as I am hearing there is a lot more . I am not trying to remove it I am not trying to show off anything under the hood . I would like to just permanently disable it . Going on what you said all I have to do is unplug it and put in a throttle cable from an earlier model . What I am hearing is that it will affect my abs system and retard timing and a bunch of other horrific tails . I talked to a fellow mechanic who specialized in Corvettes and he didn't have an answer . I did look up your links , but nothing gave me the confidence to just go for it . I have heard that you need a bypass module ?? I mean really all this just to do away with a useless system and sorry <but if you think any different then you shouldn't be driving a Corvette , your a ***** . I mean really you cant handle your ride ? I am just saying I would rather just reverse the switch from being always on to always off . Or just remember to press the button ,LOL
Maybe a tuner could write a tune to make the ASR off default. I know when I had my 97' Ram R/T I had a tuner write me a tune for my SCT programmer to have O/D off as my default. If I wanted to use O/D I had to press the button first. Which is what I wanted. Maybe someone can do the same for the ASR system.
After thinking about it I would just rather turn it off . Thank you for the advice though and taking the time to help me at least explore a few options . I did like the tuner idea I guess one could write a bypass , to what cost or practicality IDK , but was a cool idea
