Default Sensor on block

What is the sending unit or sensor on the passenger side block rear by the starter. I have gone thru my FSM and cannot seem to find what it is. It has a metal protection shield over it that connects to the oil pan bolts. Looks like I may have an oil leak there. Oil pressure sending unit maybe?

That would be a knock sensor. But that sensor is threaded into a coolant passage so there won't (shouldn't) be any oil leakage. Maybe oil is dripping down from a leaky valve cover gasket.

On an LT1, I would say you are referring to the knock sensor. May want to post your year.

95 LT1, I though the knock sensor was on the driver side. Are there 2 of them? FSM only showed the one on the driver side. FSM can be difficult to navigate, to say the least.

Yes, there are two of them. One on each side.

Well, that makes sense, I will look closer at the valve cover gasket as the culprit. Thanks all.
