Just loosen the bolts enough that with the hood closed but just resting on the latch pins, you can slide (bump) the hood to line it up where it needs to be before snugging it up just enough to keep it from slipping when opened.

Then loosen the three bolts on the latch pin plate so it can just slide enough to "self center" when the hood is pushed gently (by hand) down to latch.

You may have to go back and forth a bit to get it right, but this trick makes for short work, compared to about any other hood I've had to regulate!

IF there are uneven gaps between the bumper and the front of the hood, or the gaps between the doors and the hood are not even, then you may need to resort to shimming or adjusting, I suppose.

For hinges, check with Jason at Vette2Vette

This Is why this FORUM is so great!

You have seasoned guys like Paul here who know the little tricks of the trade when it comes to specific C4 tricks of the trade, so to speak. Trust me: there are alot of little things these guys know on here that can make a guys life a hell of a lot easier!

Mhm I love this place as for the hinges would it be a problem not having the little hydraulics.. If that what you would end up calling them, Cause mine doesnt have anything like the little piston and sleeve..

Those little hydrolics are actually lift helpers. They were eliminated in the late 80's when they went to the third design hood prop/strut.

I recently replaced my hood struts. The old ones had lost all their gas and were easy to compress.

Now the hood practically flies up after I get it about 1/2 open and it actually takes a fair amount of muscle to force the hood to start moving toward the closed position.
