I am looking to buy new carpet for my '92 coupe. I have looked at virtually every company that sells carpet but I want feedback from anyone that has put a new carpet set in theirs. Is there a certain vendor you would recommend or any do's or don'ts? Thanks in advance.
I just bought an interior for my car from Derby City Corvette it is the same as Ecklers but it was cheaper about $200.00 less for the same quality mass back pile. I paid $472.00 and received free shipping. It was the best deal out their with the best quality material available. You should look them up.
Almost every single carpet set you get has been made by ACC. Shop around for the least expensive since the product is the same.
The Last Detail/ Vette Parts Plus usually is one of the lowest priced. I think over the years I've ordered 4 or 5 sets from them and as recently as 6 months ago.
First question for you, are you planning to use Dynamat underneath the new carpet? If so, you might want to consider the cheaper plastic backed carpet as the original mass back will be too thick and not fit right.
I bought my carpet set for my 85 from Willcox and this is what they recommended and they were spot on. Their carpet fit great over the Dynamat I installed and I just had to make one small trim cut on the console side.
As far as glue, I used the yellow 3M adhesive for the spots that required it (under the dash and console sides). You don't need that much either. Getting the old glue off is another story however....

I just bought a set from ACC which was sold by Mid America.
Spent more to get the mass backing. Found the quality to be excellent.
They conform nicely to where the need to fit just right. I could honestly say they look original ie, nos.
After searching virtually every site I went with Derby City Corvette. It really boiled down to the price as many of the carpet kits out there are almost identical. Derby was only $419.99 with free shipping and zero tax. Thanks for the help on this guys.
No, I have not replaced the carpet in the car---yet. It's still in the box.
I just want to alert my fellow Corvette owners to my experience with ACC floor mats. I bought a pair of floor mats from one of the most popular Corvette vendors. Keep in mind this car is not a daily driver. Within 3 weeks I had worn a hole in the pile where the heel of my right foot rests. The only shoes I wore while driving my car were running shoes (sneakers). The vendor said, "Call the manufacturer (ACC)." They said, "Send 'em back so we can determine what we'll do." I did and ACC sent me a new pair. Somewhere on the paperwork was a note about a manufacturing flaw. Guess what? The second one did the same thing. They refused to exchange the second pair. Upon close examination and comparison I found the factory ones were made better. ACC mats were inferior. UNBELIEVABLE. So, I will be buying Lloyd mats for my third (and, hopefully last) pair and I urge anyone looking to buy mats to do the same.
Just trying to help.
