Well as I am sure most of you know already, Paul walker from fast and the furious is confirmed dead. He was in a accident in a CarreraGT with performance car driver Roger Rodas. They crashed into a tree, in a parking lot, in southern california doing doughnuts in the Porsche. The car burst into flames and killed walker and Rodas.
Personally I think Paul walker and the Fast and the Furious movies brought alot back to the car scene for the younger generation that was declining.
Paul walker was a avid car guy. He loved his cars as most of us on this forum do. He will be truely missed by alot of people and I send my condolences to his family.

How the hell do you get killed doing doughnuts? I mean doing them at 100MPH? Does the Porsche just explode due to the nature of the frontal impact, is the gas tank up there, defect in the car?

It was a side impact. Im sure the lines got ruptured.
RIP.
I know at least guys in my age group that were introduced to cars because of the F&F movies.
(I was 15 when the first movie came out)
Maybe more. Cars went from being transportation for quite a few kids, to being something to really appreciate and love. I can't begin to tell you the number of kids that started fantasizing about cars like the Eclipse, RX-7, even the CRX, the Charger after those movies.
F&F really fed the tuner movement in general. Some of us were already car guys by default. (My dad was a gearhead. I grew up around cars!) But I remember the shift around here when people became interested in those movies back then.
Jesus christ! How fast were they going doing donuts.
Not sure. Nothing really has been released. There is a video out of some young guys coming up on the scene and If you look at the marks it looks like they lost control , slid sideways, and colided with a few trees. The speed limit was 45 in that zone. The Cerrara Gt is a mid engine car and the fuel tank is up front. Also the whole car is carbon fiber. It wouldnt take much to split that thing in two.
That car had to roll over several times. It is torn in half and that little tree couldn't have done it. Other pictures show pieces all over the place. There is a video taken while the car is still burning and there are small car parts all over the lot. They don't know yet who was driving but there are burn marks in the shape of a figure eight all over the asphalt. Might have hit something, did a 360 and rolled into the trees. That would explain the odd shaped burn/skid marks.

Roger Rodas, A professional race car driver and friend of Paul walker was the driver. Many people saw him get into the car with him but the authorities wont release the name until dental records confirm it.

That youtube video really pisses me off.
Those citidiots roll on the scene, and don't bother to investigate for survivors.
They park their car close to the fire then run away fearing the car will explode! Just how stupid is that!!??
I pray those two were dead before the fire started.

That was my exact reaction when I saw the video too. Burning to death would not be on my top 5 ways to go.
Even professional drivers have trouble taming these hyper performance cars available today. It really doesn't take much for things to go really bad really fast with you're driving a rocket. The street is so unforgiving compared with the track. RIP Roger and Paul.
