Of course my headliner is sagging in the 96, and I'm thinking about making trying to do some cool design instead of the stock black, I looked up some old threads but I couldn't see any pictures.. any pictures or ideas of material/designs would be cool as I don't know what I wanna do yet!!
I used black suede on the headliner, visors, halo and the trim pieces around the hatch. I tried this because I didn't want to buy all those pieces at the time. It's been three years and looks perfect. I get compliments all the time and the car has won car shows.

I don't have any detailed pictures. Its hard to see in a picture. The car is in storage right now. You have to use a good suede with a little backing. I did all the pieces. The visors were done at an upholstery shop. It was still much cheaper than buying all those pieces. My interior was badly faded and some of the plastic pieces had cracks. The suede was about $30 a yard.
There was a post years ago where someone showed how to do a headliner with the chevy bowtie. At my age my memory leaves a lot to be desired, but I think he cut the bowtie out of foam rubber and glued it to a harder backing. Then covered it with a black fabric. Very unique look.
It is a suede leather but; I don't know if its 1-1.5 oz. I can find out. I removed the the trim pieces and measured how much suede to cut. I then cleaned the pieces with alcohol. I used a spray gun with adhesive (green in color). Once the piece was covered with adhesive I wrapped the trim piece. Make sure you pull it very tight and place your seams on the back side. Its not very costly but; it does take time.
The headliner is done the same way except no prep. I just pulled off the old headliner and wrapped the piece of hard board. The headliner is very easy. I also replaced the weatherstripping while I had it apart.
