Spider cracks

I recently purchase a second "Vette" 1992, the one things I noticed on the body are "hairline stress cracks". I've done some fiberglass repair on boats for years with similar condition: Has anyone done fiber glass repair with similar cracks? Can I repair them using the same technique/process used on boats? Thank you in advance.

Try posting in this section of the Forum. The C4 uses SMC instead of fiberglass so repairs are done with different material.

Actually that's a common misunderstanding. SMC is just the fabrication process: Sheet Molded Composite. AFAIK, Cheverolet is still using chopped fiberglass reinforced material with polyester resins and calcium carbonate filler formed and cured under heat and pressure. The most recent production methods also are using carbon fiber reinforcement on some parts. If repairing cracks you need to use a compatible resin. GM sells repair kits which are compatible. Since formulas change from model to model and year to year, get the correct part number for your year. (might even be in the FSM).
