I just put a Set of Michelin's on my 93 and have only driven about 250 miles so far. They are not cheap, i paid about 1260.00 for them..I can't complain about them, however due to cost, i would check out the Nitto's 555. You would save about 600.00. Of course, if you have deep pockets, go for it..

I have used Michelin Pilot Sports. They're excellent long lasting tires with very good dry & especially wet handling. But where they really excel is in their predictability at the limits. I'm guessing that most here never test the limits so I'm not sure if that's a factor.

My 93, which I bought just 4 months ago is my first Vette & first American car. I've owned a number of mid range European & Japanese sports cars in the last 40 yrs. The name Nitto rarely if ever came up during that entire time. But here it cones up every time anyone mentions tires. I've never used Nittos, but I have to wonder why it seems so popular around here, other than the fact that it is inexpensive & that there are few if any choices in that price range.

I just lucked into finding them on amazon and that's the only place I've found factory correct size matching sets by Michelin so it's prob worth the money to get them while they still have them but they don't have many . I have sern nittos come up a lot also and heard they are decent but this looks like a one time chance to get Michelins in factory correct size

The only thing I'd be concerned about is if the tires are really old stock. You'd be able to check them when they arrive, but I'm not sure what Amazon's return policy would be if it came down to that.

If the only place you saw them is Amazon I'd be concerned that it's "old stock" that is being "clearance" by someone. If that same tire is NOT available from a "street retailer" then you know you're buying "old stock" and maybe even discontinued product. I'd be very cautious!

I've put over 15,000 miles on my Nitto 555s that are on my 1995 coupe. They handle well wet and dry and still look brand new. I researched lots of brands and this tire came up tops. I bought mine through discount tire and the price was awesome.. If you don't have a discount tire near you then go to discount tire direct online and they ship free. Might even have a rebate

Great performance on them.

Default Nitto 555's

I am very happy with them. I have stock 255/285's front and rear. Fairly quiet, good handling also.

And good luck finding a replacement later in time if you damage a tire. I buy regularly, locally available tires for this reason.

I have never in my life put 15,000 on a set of high performance tires & have them still look remotely brand new. In fact, they rarely last me 15k miles. That includes cars that have one third of your Vette's horsepower. On the one hand I shudder to think of the manner in which you drive. On the other hand assuming you have various cars & maintain your cars well, I'd be happy if you'd consider allowing me to buy used cars from you.

dtana, your point and contribution to the OPs question is? You shudder, I shudder when I see people like you driving the way your post implies on the street and not the track. Now back to the question, what tires do you recommend? Guys like you are why people don't like to post. Who are you to judge me or anybody else you don't know.

Good day!

Good day!
Relax............Just a joke. You must learn how to overcome it. FYI, you can use high performance street tires on tracks. I'm not "judging" you. The narrative you supply speaks for itself & require little in the way of judging.

Based on my experience of actually driving various tires on the track as well as above the speed limit on the road, (& not just "researching") my recommendation for the OP for an inexpensive, durable (my definition not yours, I'm sure) summer high performance tire in the 255/285 size is the Kumho SPT.

My unsolicited recommendation for you 01 Coupe, is...........well never mind. Your driving behavior & expertise at tire conservation is beyond the limits of my comprehension. Of that I'm certain.
