Ran over something and it cut the side wall of the rear tire. Definitely needs replacement.
Problem is that it's a Cooper Zeon 2XS 285/40-17 and it's not being made anymore.
Hoping to find something used. Anyone know of anything?
Thanks,
-Mike
What is the date code of your tire? If it's not extremely old I believe a Cooper dealer could help you. Not an online tire "seller" but a "REAL" Cooper dealer. If it's a very old date code maybe it's time to at least "pair-up" a purchase or maybe it's really time for an "all-four"!
eBay is often a good source for an "obsolete" tire.

Hmmm... didn't think of that. Thanks for the suggestion. I was going to call Cooper today in any event so we'll see what they say.
Yeah, these tires aren't that old. Last couple of years. I'm hoping there's some old inventory laying around someplace.

Last couple of years doesn't actually answer the question. How old are they? The tires are date coded and the date code should be on the outer side wall. Date code is 4 digits, first 2 (week of year) the next 2 (production year).
The tire should have a federally mandated information code that's maybe as many as 12 or 13 digits long. The last four of that string is the date code. DOT xxx-xxx-xxxx-0110 (1st week 2010)
It would appear as a ninth week 2010 build (March). You could confirm that with a Cooper retailer. Might make for a difficult find for a used match. It would be your call on maybe time to buy new based on maybe tread wear and what type of use for the car. If you're in a high heat environment that might be considered also.
Yeah, I called Cooper the other day and they gave me over a dozen of their distributors to call...
So I called them all and no one had any excess inventory. Some of them had multiples stores across the country and they were able to check stock on all their stores.
Any rate, I'll probably just buy a tire with a similar tread pattern and run it that way for a while.
