I have searched forum and have read stuff but not on my year which Is 85. What is the way to go replace anttena motor for 43 bucks which I saw on ebay or the plastic ribbon? The motor works but antenna will not go up but I have perfect reception without having the antenna go up. Its just nice to have things working the way they should be.
I did the mast/ribbon replacement 21 years ago and it has worked perfectly. I have read things here and there that that these cheap motors won't fit well without modifications.

Hi
You will need to replace the antenna mast, the metal clip on the end of the ribbin usually breaks. Remove the antenna from the car, undo the bolts for the support and remove antenna cable. Then unscrew the big nut (reach your arm up beside the muffler and unscrew it anticlockwise)
The whole assembly then will come out and unplug the antenna plug, remember to grease the plastic gear and wheel assembly so it doesnt bind.
Then re fit the antenna assembly and you will be good to go for many more years.
I have one laying with my pile of parts in the backyard. if you live close, you can have it, just come on by. Its off a 91, don't know if it will fit. No, don't do the mail thing.
