Alarm System
Does anyone have any idea why the security system goes off on it's own. I tried to unplug it by pulling the fuse, and unplugging the brain but it still goes off, I then unplugged the horns but the security light still comes on and drains the battery, even took out the light I care less if the alarm works but it is draining the battery. If anyone has an idea please let me know

Usually caused by bad door jamb switches (on the door hinge pillar). I think the hatch switch might also affect the alarm.
i have heard of bad door lock switches also causing this problem. I have seen several threads where the switch had to be exactly vertical when the key was removed or the alarm would go off at random times.

I don't know how the '84s are connected. The '86 and up cars are slightly different because the starter disable was moved into the VATS system.
On my car the SECURITY light flashes if the door is open but the security system is NOT armed.
The SECURITY light comes on solid if the door is open and the security system IS armed.
The light goes out when the door is closed (or the switch on the door hinge pillar is pushed in by my finger).
