JUST wanted to post up your thread was a big motivator to follow your path to restoring the steering wheel ...
came out great...THANK YOU DT86.
i wouldnt have done this on saturday this past week... without your thread....
came out awesome...
Or you can for $25 just refurbish your steering wheel using www.leatherique.com
i did one this weekend on saturday in about an hour...(prep sanding earlier in the week) it was easier than you could believe and it came out great.
i have tons of black dye left along with all the other stuff needed..
if you are near northern bergen county NJ and what do give this easy refurbishing a try...let me know...
what the hell worth a shot for free...
anyways...Here is the video of a competitor to leatherique that i followed...
it was really very easy and im not a do it yourself type of guy...
if you have a c4 and want to givenit a try let me know...
a couple of rounds of drinks and a few laughs..
i have so much left over material, the steering wheel came out great and it was fun to do..
you can also check out DT86 corvette forum members thread...
he did his and i followed his thread closely...
comes out great....costs nothing...didnt take that long to do...
just a lot of drying time...inbetween ...but I used a hair dryer / heat gun to speed up the process...
i used the liquid prep material, 500 and 1200 grit sand paper...easy work.
Btw the kleer coat at the end prevents any dye transfer that some speak about who never did this...
if your c4 isnt your daily driver leave the wheel on your car while doing the work...
no need to take the wheel off...
shoot me a pm if your local and want to give this a try.
