So I'm replacing the fuel pump in my 96 and for the life of me cannot get the top hose off. I got the other two on the bottom off. I really don't want to cut and have to replace the top one. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to get the stuck hose off? Thanks in advance.
On my prior '88 all three hoses were pretty well "stuck" onto the pipes but working the rubber back & forth with a pair of vice-grips did the trick with no hose cutting needed.
When you try to pull the hose off, it tries to tighten up around the metal hose. Kinda like the Chinese Finger Trap.
What you do is pry up the end slightly with a small flat blade screwdriver and spray some silicone lubricant at the joint. It will draw the lubricant up between the metal tube and rubber hose. Then take a large flat blade screwdriver and push the rubber hose from the end.
BTW.. Make sure to replace the sending unit gasket as this is a source for moisture to be drawn by vacuum into the fuel tank while driving in the rain. And clean the drain tube as well for the same reason.

Thanks guys. I've got the thing replaced. The problem now is that there is static coming through my radio... wtf? It seems as though the faster I drive the less static there is. Could it be that I didn't a connector in good enough? That seems unlikely though.
