I have a 91 vette that when I put the defrost or heater on it blows cold air only and I set the temp as high as it will go which is 90. Since it has been running really hot even after I changed all the coolant out I thought it might be a clogged heater core not letting the water run completely through the system? I took the reservoir off and top/bottom hose on the heater core and ran some CLR through the top hose and after about ten minutes fluid starting running out of the bottom hose that was kind of sooty looking. I ran water through it works fine. I put it back together running it with the heater on full for twenty minutes but it still only blows cold?
HELP?
I have the same problem and mine is running almost to the danger 260 mark on my gauge? I've changed the thermostat, flushed it out and added new coolant, checked for debris, and took off the radiator reservoir and disconnected the hoses to the heater core to make sure it wasn't clogged either. And if this isn't strange enough when I turn on the heater/defroster it blows cold air as if the a/c was on?? Totally confused because it also uses tranny fluid (6-speed) at a rate of every four days I have to fill up and have no leaks under the car??? I have the auto climate control.
