Hey all, have a 85 Coupe, I was replacing the outer window seal and found that the metal strip it attaches to inside the door had completely rusted out, most of it is completely gone. Does anyone know if I can replace this metal strip or am I looking at needing a new door?
I am not sure a whole new door is in order. Can you fabricate a substitute and rivet it to the top of the door edge?
Bob, I thought about that too, not sure but probably could. If I could find a really cheap door I might be able to salvage the piece from it and get it fitted in somehow. I just screwed a new outer seal in place to what was left of the old one to try and keep some water out for right now.
Try to fabricate something as mentioned previously even alittle bondo and some aluminum I'm sure you can come up with something creative. Talk to your local mechanic for ideas
