Default idle temp?

new owner of 95.

my temp gauge has a line marked 185 then two un marked lines then one marked 260. if it is a linear scale the two marks between should be 210 and 235.

on 85 degree day while driving gauge read at the first unmarked line, 210 degrees? Come to a stop for light, and before light turns green temperature will rise to 2 unmarked line, 235 degrees? It moves fast enough that you can actually watch it move toward high temp. Start driving and you can watch it come down. after a mile or less it is back at 1st unmarked line.

Talked to a corvette mechanic and he said the gauges on these cars were not very accurate. Check both radiator fans said they were working fine. Temperature did not get high enough to kick 2nd fan on. Said not to worry about it.

When I used to go to street rod shows there was a lot of cruising around show grounds on hot Saturday afternoon at bumpeer to bumper traffic jam speeds.. I had to be careful or my street rod would over heat.

Am I going to have this problem with my vette?

Thanks, for any insight.

Johnny Diamond.

The analog gauge is not linear, or that accurate. Look at the digital gauge, it's more accurate. The cars are designed to run in the 200-230 range. I'm sure you are fine.
