The type of oil and antifreeze used in it would be the clue to the right answer.

In a later post, you mentioned a casting number on the block ending in 880.

According to this reference, a casting number ending in 880 comes up as:

10243880...350...95-00...2 or 4...Vortec truck, Gen.I crate motors and "ZZ4", roller cam, one piece rear seal

If this is correct, not bad at all!

There was a dealership that used to make special Tuned Port intakes for Vortec heads...not sure if they still do...the name was Scoggins-Dickey. Regular Tuned Port intake manifolds will not fit Vortec heads.

The casting number was for both two bolt and four bolt main blocks so with a little luck you might even have a four bolt main block.

Here is a great resource for Chevy V8 casting numbers:

Wouldn't a ZZ4 have the aluminum 113 heads?

Very true, but the listing showed multiple applications for an "880" block so a ZZ4 was just one of the possibilities listed. His would likely fall under the other one listed there, "Gen. I crate motors", if this info is correct.

I finally got around to getting the engine out of the vehicle today, it's does have the 880 casting and from the info here and what I have found since my last post I would have to agree it's more like the Camaro style engine.

As everyone is so friendly and even though I don't have a Corvette it would be great to keep posting and asking questions here.

just another quick question with the TPI: are they all the same and would the gasket kits all be the same?
If not how would I go fining identification on the TPI to what I have and what I need to buy?

Facing the engine on the right rear there will be an engine code. It is on the pad on the back of the block. Again facing the engine on the left front there is a pad on the block in front of the head. Get those two numbers and it can be ID'd properly.

Here is two photos of the numbers on the rear of the engine. The engine number on the front of the engine just in front of the head is VK146151

That's a Goodwrench crate motor, the valve cover stickers are a dead giveaway.

Yep, was able to read and Google that, what I was hoping for was a conformation on the date range for the engine and the TPI set up allowing me to buy correct parts and ship them to the other side of the world
