Had minor issues along the way (headlight motor went out, needed new distributor), but I've encountered my first big issue with the car and am at a loss.
While driving to work the other day the car began to sputter and suddenly died out in the middle of the street at an intersection. Had to have it towed home. After doing some browsing through the forum and a pressure test, I felt that the fuel pump needed to be replaced (as I read this was a common failure). Well, low and behold I've installed the new fuel pump and still nothing. No pressure at the fuel rail.
Can someone please point me in the right direction?!?!?
Can you hear the pump run for 2 sec. when you turn the key on? Fuse? I doubt your pump is running or you would have some pressure. Are you using a gauge to check pressure?

Reason: spell check

Yes, I hear the pump run. Fuse is good, and I'm using a gauge I rented to check the pressure at the rail.
It seems like there is pressure, because when the valve stem is depressed I'm getting fuel shooting out... The gauge however still reads no pressure.
Checked the gauge with an air compressor and the gauge is fine.
Are you sure that the gauge was screwed on good? If I remember correctly the TPI is hard to get the gauge screwed on to. If fuel is "shooting" out then you have pressure but we need to be certain before we continue the troubleshooting. Have you checked spark yet? Just curious..
