My '86 has black metallic windshield trim which needs to be repainted. Has anyone done this? It seems to me that Rustoleum black semi-gloss might do the trick. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Reason: Typo
Go to your local paint and body supply and get a can of SEM trim paint. That's what I used after a good cleaning and a red scotch bright pad to lightly scuff it.

I used SEM trim paint as well and was very pleased. Their products are excellent.
I used the SEM trim paint and SEM Solve and followed the instructions, including light sanding. The paint doesn't adhere very well to the bare metal parts of the trim. It looks like small bubbles.
I was wondering if I may have applied too much paint or not enough.
I used flat black krylon. it worked great. sand the trim and apply LIGHT coats. I did 3 and no bubbles 8) if you get some use very fine sand paper between coats. easy job, just mask off everything before you do it.

I would guess that there was still wax or grease on the trim. Not saying it wasnt prepped right but from your description of the paint lifting it sounds like an adhesion issue.

I agree. I thought the Solve would clean everything up. The Rustoleum primer seems to be adhering pretty well. I have to wait a few hours to repaint.
