I'm in the market for another 93-96 C4. So was curious to know if anyone owns more than one C4. I love my automatic and I am considering the ZR1 or another C4. I'm keeping my current 93' Black C4.
I've had a total of four, different C4's over the last 18 years (1985, 1990 (steel blue), 1990 (arctic white), and 1996). presently, I own two - a two tone silver 85 coupe, and a 90 arctic white over red coupe. I've owned the 85 from 1996 to 2008, and got it back this year, so technically, I've owned it twice. bought the 85 with 32K miles, and presently it has 154K miles on the clock. i bought the 90 last year with 36K miles (presently 40K). both are DD's -
gone but not forgotten - my torch red 96 and my steel blue 90 --
I was looking at ZR1 but expensive and hard to find parts is my concern. Also, I like the convenience of Auto Trans. That said, unless I begin to feel otherwise, I'm looking for a white exterior, tan interior low mileage, mint 1993-1996.
Anyone on the Forum felt discouraged to buy ZR1 because it's a stick, not auto, not to mention hard to find and expensive parts?
I've had many C4's, 3-84, 2-95, 3-ZR-1s 90-91-93 and 1 96 LT4 CE.
Out of all the ZR-1's have been very reliable, the parts issue is a myth. The only parts I had to replace other than normal maintenance in an accumulative 90+K miles) was 1 water pump on the 90 price was the same as an LT1-LT4 pump.
The other parts were mods were my choice. My wife's 95 LT1 has 200k miles and I just replace the opti and injectors a few years back.
If your looking into an auto 95-96 would be the ones to look at as they are the newest of the C4's
On my second C4. My first was an 84, my second and current is my 90 that I'm keeping forever and considering either another 84 or a 96 LT4 in the future.
I need to show my wife this thread, but honey everyone else has 3-4 Corvettes.
Good luck with that.
Another argument that I have used is they are great commuter cars with good highway mpg's. I sold it as an economy car when I bought my '88 and my '94.
A little creativity helps (and a wife that likes them too.)
We Gone: I'm loving your Private Road line up, all your C4s past & present.
Questions for ZR1 Owners: Driving Stick vs Automatic - Did you have to make an adjustment? Is the ZR1 clutch hard to press? Any guy here have physical issues or limitations that prevented you from buying the C4-ZR1 or it's not that bad? I'm trying to get an idea if it's worth buying the ZR1 or another easy on the legs Auto C4 because I have a bad hip joint.
I have two C4's. A '84 Z51 with a Tremec TKO600 and a '91 6spd with FX3 suspension. I'm setting up the '84 for autocross and the '91 is my weekend cruiser.
If you have the room and money I’d get your ZR-1. I have a 95 arctic white coupe, my dad has a 96 CE LT4, and my good friend just got a 90 black ZR-1. I feel like we all own these cars together. Do NOT be scared off by the alleged parts conundrum for the Z’s. Over my friend’s barely ONE week of ownership I have been thoroughly amazed by the support these cars have and deserve. From other owners to big names in the corvette and ZR-1 parts, repair, and modification business, I have been thoroughly impressed. Some parts you will PAY for but honestly it’s not really that bad. When the parts are not available new or aftermarket there’s an answer in the way of rebuild services. LT5 belt tensioner… good luck finding an NOS in the box but you can ship it off to at least two places I know of that will make your original better than new. And everyone in the game has been overly kind. They are in the business because of their passion for the cars and friendship with owners and it really shows.
