Default electrical plug on left head

I have a1987 C4. I am trying to sort out code 33 and 34 issues and noticed a plug on the drivers head between spark plugs that is hanging and melted. The wire to it is green with a white stripe. What is it for? I doubt it has any connection to my low idle but starting with some obvious issues.

It's a coolant temp sensor. I'm not sure on your car if the sensor is for the gauge, if it goes to the ECM, or it is a fan switch. I thought it was for the gauge. (not sure) If it is the one that goes to the ECM then it will definitely affect idle quality if it is not hooked up or working properly. Hopefully others will chime in.

That's the coolant temperature sensor for the auxiliary fan in front of the radiator. The relay for that fan is mounted on the front of the radiator shroud on the driver's side.

You can test the relay/fan by connecting the green/white wire to ground. The relay should click and the fan should run. The ignition does not have to be on to do this test.

Also look under the front bumper facia to make sure the fan is there and if so, that the wire to it is connected. The aux fan relay will be on the forward left side of the radiator shroud.
