Default Brake hose replacement problem

I am having a really hard time removing the rear brake hoses. They just will not budge at all. I have a flare nut wrench but that has not helped. It actually has slipped when I put some pressure on it. I have been spraying penetrating oil in it for the last few days. I even tried cleaning it up with some brake cleaner then spraying more penetrating oil on it.

Has anyone had a similar issue? I'm thinking of maybe using a torch to heat it up, then use vice grips to break it lose.

Are you replacing the hose? Are you having trouble at the caliper or where it attaches to the brake line?

I'm having an issue breaking the brake hose loose at the hardline and hose joint. The caliper is already removed.

I had to remove the wheel well. I cut the hose so it wouldn't twist. Then I removed the clamp securing the brake line to the body. Gave me more room to work. Put my flare wrenches on and applied the torch. As soon as I stopped heating I grabbed the wrenches and ...they were hot! Use thick gloves. I had to heat it a few times but it did break loose. One of the nuts was slightly rounded over, so I found a wrench that was just a hair smaller and tapped it on. Also kept it from falling off while I was heating the nut. And be prepared to do some cussing.

Are you attempting to loosen using the hex of the hose or the hex of the hard-line? The hose has indexing tabs that secure it in the bracket and it will NOT turn. You need to loosen the hex on the hard-line, remove the retainer and the hose OR if you remove the retainer you can likely pull the hose from the bracket enough to use a pair of wrenches. You mention "slip"? You are using metric "flare nut" wrenches? Had to ask.

I am trying to turn the Hex nut on the hard line itself. I am using a 12MM Flare Nut wrench, but it seems to slip. I guess the tolerances are not the best. I had no issue with the front brakes lines. The rears are not moving at all. It is holding up my brake project.

Cut the hose off at the fitting and put a deep socket on it. Sacrifice the hose.

Has anyone had a similar issue? I'm thinking of maybe using a torch to heat it up, then use vice grips to break it lose.
Be careful of the fumes when putting a flame to brake cleaner, certain types can emit poisonous gas, phosgene, that's probably the wrong spelling but I wouldn't heat anything that's been soaked in brake fluid.

If you use a torch, heat the hard line then touch a candle or some sort of wax to the heated connection and where the tube enters the nut.
If you can get a small pipe wrench on the hard line that works far better than vise-grips as long as you get a bite.

If you haven't gotten it off yet and if you haven't rounded off or wrecked it, then do yourself a favor and order this -

http://www.ebay.com/itm/SNAP-ON-TOOLS-10mm-x-12mm-Double-Flare-Nut-Wrench-Part-RXFMS1012B-/390994573933?hash=item5b0917ba6d&item=390994573933&pt=Motors_Automotive_Tools&vxp=mtr
Yeah, it's expensive. I found them cheaper when I was slowly buying them but I had time to wait. A Snap On flare wrench will not spread like other wrenches and if it cannot get the line loose then use other methods like vise grip, etc.
